2002 Z24 Kit
Thursday, March 31, 2005 4:06 PM
I know this sounds like it should be in the exterior forums...but I thought it was a newbie question. I have a 2002 base model cav. Where is the best place to get a Z24 Kit? What parts will I need(full bumper vs. just the extension) what should I expect to pay? Thanks for any help u can give me. (yes i have searched)

Please tell me you're gonna get a better engine, or at least make yours run fast enough to wear the Z badging.

The engine in a standard cavvvy is identical to the one in a z. Only dif is the z has slightly tuned suspension, factory body kit, sway bar, and every factory option imaginable.

Mastrrgee: If you are going to be pimping your ride, why settle for that factory kit that everyone already has, when you can spend the same amount and buy something original and personalise your car?

You would be hard pressed to find any salvagable parts from a Z anyway...especially a newer one... Because everyone knows that z's are indestructable.

WRONG! if its from the later portion of 2002 models, yes they both have the ecotec, BUT if its from the beginning of the 2002 models the Z has the 2.4l and the base has the 2200 OHV.

anyways, i do believe that the 00-02 Zs lips were not molded so you may be able to just find the lips for the front and back. don't hold me to that though. your best bets on finding them is a salvage yard, ebay, or the classifieds here on JBO. also, it wouldn't hurt to just post a thread in your regional forums here and see if anyone local has the Z kit laying around after they kitted they're car. Pricewise, it's all gonna depend. I personally paid $100 for my 95-99 Z front (I feel I kinda paid to much for it, but it was already in black and the only person local that was selling one), $30 for my 00-02 Z Sides, and $50 for my 00-02 Base Model Bumper (at a swap meet). I don't think thats too bad in total ($180). I could have probably found them cheaper (maybe) but they were all black and thats what my car is. So I don't have to worry about painting them (yet). My main reason for doing it was that I have an 99 Base Cavi and it came with the ugly grey unpainted bumpers and I didn't want them. So I figured might as well get the Z kit on it since I didn't want an aftermarket kit. Well, I hope this helped some what. Good luck on finding the parts you need.

thanks for the help...the reason i want a Z kit and not somethin else is that i like the look of it...more of a "muscle car" look if there is such a thing for a cav lol i dunno if thats the right wording but u know what i mean. well i guess i'll be on the lookout then
