just bought a cavi

Hi, my name is Jim, I'm 30 years old and reside in Lansing, Michigan. I ran into this forum a little while ago and I've found a ton of useful info.

Anyway, I just bought a 2002 Cavalier, base model with the 2.2 LN2 engine. I bought this for the gas mileage (I usually drive a F-150 4x4, freakin' gas pig) for my commute to work.
I've found the car to be ok, but I've found it to be a bit lacking in power. I don't see alot of info in the FAQ about the LN2, so I guess I'm asking you guys what kind of mods I can do to this thing to help acceleration a bit. I'm not interested in drag racing or doing 130 mph down the highway or anything stupid like that, just need a little bit more power.

Thank you!

Jim

You can do the normal bolt -ons such as intake, exhaust, and header. Those should give you a little more pickup of the line .. other than that if its matted withan auto you really can't do much more unless you invest alot more money.

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.

if you look around in the performance section im sure there are a lot of posts on gaining power- you can also use the search and look for power gains or stuff like that- there are many mods out there that give you a little extra power- good luck with the car

Depending on your expectations, I don't think that the economics behind tuning a 2.2 are worth it. Unless you get used parts, or find deals. Damn good on gas though, wish my 2.4 got gas mileage..

Shoud of bought a Z24, I get 30-31 mpg on the highway going 70-75 in both of my Z's. It's about the level of car you seem to be describing.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I thought about getting an ecotec, or a z-24, but this was such a good deal, 40k miles and 5000 bucks. the gas mileage isn't as good as I expected it to be, I only get about 25 mpg, with mixed highway and city driving, but it sure beats 12 mpg with my gas pig truck.

anyway, thanks guys.

Congrats! +1 for the caviliers! For more pickup, get an

Intake, header, exhaust and crap. If you've got some serious $$$ go for a 2.4L swap.
