some people have put the 3800 V6 supercharged engine in there cavalier. but really the only engine swap that will cost the least will swapping in the same engine you have now for a newer engine of the same thing

least amount of work would most likely be the biggest engine they ever offered stock in the cavalier.

one of the biggest ever put in was the 3800 V6 SC but that takes alot of work.

then there's this beast...

^^^^^^ Wow. Now that's an engine swap.

I'm saving up right now to swap in the 2.4L LD9. I picked that one because I believe it's the best compromise between bigger motor and ease of install. I'd love to put the 3800 in, but as was mentioned above- serious, serious work involved.

not to tell you to not use the 2.4 ld9, but think of the ecotec also. the eco is roughly the same amount of power, but since it is the standard engine now, the aftermarket support for it will be much greater

I've heard that the two have similar power base line- but it seems logical to me that the higher displacement engine has greater potential. Of course aftermarket support is an important consideration. If the parts aren't out there, potential really means squat.

BINGO!!! try telling my 2.0's that street cavis will beat them (besides what 10?) just becasue they have .4 more displacement. if theres no support for them, then there useless.

You can get all the same parts for the 2.4L Twin Cam as you can for the Ecotec... it's just that the Eco is newer... so the parts are likely easier to find
