Hi, I've been a member of this community (passively) since May 2002. I stopped modding about a year after that and considered my car a beater ( perfect body condition, minor...annoyances, I guess is a good word, in running conditions and whatnot ) for really no reason at all. I bought a GSXR-600 and pretty much parked the car unless it was too rainy to rocket across town. That said, I sold the bike recently, making about 3000$ profit off of it, and now I'm back spending everyday in my 1996 Sunfire GT.
I fell back in love with it.
Here's my deal/question/dilemma/what-have-you: The car has had mild modifications to it, like the daytime running lights completely rewired to be on a switch so I could easily turn it on and off, upgraded motor mounts, sway bars, air intake, and a few others that I can't remember off of the top of my head. The few things wrong with the interior is: broken vents trying to paint them, light cover ( alien head shaped stock one ) will not stay up, the plastic 'sides' for the seat have been broken, the driver's side recline handle broken off, seats are overall screwed.
I'm wanting to restore the car to its original condition or as close as I can get it. With a few exceptions:
The engine needs rebuilding ( I'm near 200k miles ), so I would like to blueprint the engine, if the parts are available.
I really hate the isuzu tranny...did they ever make a replacement that would fit to the 2.4's? Its been a LONG time since I fell out the loop.
Besides restoring it, I'm going to get the paint renewed and replace all the glass on the vehicle.
My point of the post is, where's a good place to start for the interior pieces ( besides GM if possible ), and does anyone make parts for the 2.4 engines? Any help would be extremely welcome, and thanks for reading this horribly long post
P.S. Here is whats wanting me to get my car back to original condition

My father and uncle are convinced that j-body's will one day be the 'classic' car.

I have a 2002 cavy z24 and its supposed to run 7 to 8 second 0 to 60 suposedly but mine runs like 8 to 9 why would that be?
i would suggest checking out your local junkyards for your parts...tranny wise you could do a getrag swap
96 cavi'/WI j's
Thanks. I know there used to be a website that you could buy stronger internals to blueprint the 2.4. I did a little bit of searching and couldn't find it though. Maybe whoever was selling the parts stopped carrying 'em.
