I'm thinking of doing a custom intake, and run it down in to where the stock intake resonator was (inside the fender well).
When I took it out it seemed to be protected from the elements. Would doing this even be worth it? Or just make it like the rest, and have the filter where the air filter box was?
The custom Intake your refering to is a Cold Air Intake,and yes it does go through the hole from where the Bong was. They make C.A.I. for all three model engine's(2200,2.2L,2.4L) It's your choice on what type of intake you want. Whether you want a Short Ram or C.A.I.,The price vary greatly from one to another. C.A.I. will be allot more expensive then the Short Ram. Performance is not cheap and the diff. between these two option's is minimal, But the colder the air the more H.P. you create.

No Prob dude. What size pipe's are you gonna use2.5"or 3"?
3" aluminum and a couple rubber elbows. with a K&N filter.
If I do extend it down in to the wheel well, should i get the AEM bypass valve? I live in FL, and it rains here alot. Will it work? Supposedly they say not to use them on non AEM CAI.
I would deffinetly get the bypass. Even though it's not required it's still better to be safe from water saturating your main filter and bogging your motor down. When this happen's the bypass has a flange that shut's off the bottom half of the intake and only let's air through the bypass. AEM sell's there intake's w/with out the bypass. I live in Texas it rain's here alot too but not hurricane's. Hope you weren't affected by the Hurricane that just went through over there. Anyway's I have a handfull of buddie's that have the AEM CAI with out the bypass and they've been fine w/out for a long time. L8R!!

Xian the hole at the battery tray is 2.5 inches so you will need to cut it out to the 3 inches that you want.
