Anyone have any experiences with these? They're kind of expensive so I wanted to get some experiences before deciding whether to go with one or just a regular short ram intake. thnx
Yeah, the secrets are pretty expensive... I have a Velocity CAI, it was about $100 and it works just fine for me.
an intake is just an intake. no difference in the $200 AEM ones to the $40 ebay intakes.
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
probaly just a gimmic. like the whole Cold Air thing going around. peole automaticlly see COld AIr and think its better

most likely yes, the second tube is just basically a gimmick. it could be an approvement but your not really gonna see much. my weapon-r dragon intake (same as the secret intake minus the second tube) cost me only $50.

Nice, thats a good price ... can you link me to the store you got it from? (or if ebay, the seller)? thnx a lot man
all i have to is the basic bottom of the line ebay short ram, and i get just as much performance out of it as my friend does his more expensive name brand intake (i paid $35 for mine, he paid $120) the only diff is his has a brand name on it and the pipe is longer. Basically what i'm tryin to say is dont waste your money on gimmics and names when you can put it to better use elsewhere
I have seen improvements of the Secret Weapon intake in person. Don't buy it from ebay cause what they do sometimes is sell it will just the Secret weapon filter and not the piping. There is technology in the piping and in the filter. It is worth the buy and I would get it but I personally don't want to buy another intake (I hate going backwards in modifications).
If you are serious about purchasing one, check out
www.definedparts.com. They sell them for very good prices. If you have questions about it, you can Instant message screen name on AOL "definedparts"
Good luck to you.

New sig in the works
whats funny is someone mentioned the "cold air gimmic", funy as hell. Cold air actually contains more oxygen than warm air, thus bringing more oxygen into your engine thus giving you a better burn. whoever said that is a freaken moron, that is like saying our car needs back presure, its all bs. If you buy an expensive cai or wai the fitament is going to be perfect, you buy ebay crap intakes it isnt gonna fit right, it will hit something and it looks cheap. i just bought an aem cai for 250, ever heard the saying speed cost money, dont buy crap intakes or parts for your engine. the expensive intakes have been extensivley tested and engineered for a specific car, that is what you pay for, the name and the R&D. do it right the first time.
the weapon r inner tube is for air correction, it actually creates force when the air is sucked in. go read about it on there site, do some damn research. if you suck air into your intake say from your stock air box , the current of air is chaotic, with the weapon r it "smooths" the air and actually creates a vortex like induction. go read on the manufactures site
it's true cold air has more oxygen, the point is, in an Engine compartment, there really is no "cold air." A cold air intake and a warm air intake pretty much are the same exact thing, because you can't really get cold air without the heat shield box or ram air.

I think he meant cold air intakes being a gimmic not actually cold air?
an aem cai actually runs into the fender well of the car which intern gives cold air, that is why the aem is so expensive R&D and the fact it is an actual cold air intake. the fender well is shielded from the heat of the engine. but you do have a point of other intakes that claim to be cold air, i know for a fact tho the aem is "true" cold air.
610pennsylvania: i know what he was saying
. The trick of it all tho is, the AEM is "true" cold air, as i mentioned above runs into the fender well. the AEM is deffinatly worth the money. The weapon r, is it considered a cold air intake?
all in all i am saying is that an AEM intake is NOT the same as something you can buy off of ebay, plain and simple.
Okee.. after struggling with the secret weapon intake, and calling Weapon R. I finally got it installed. I don't know if it is my imagination or if its true, but it seems like there is a better response from the intake. I ordered this from Bryan @ Definedparts.com. He offers EXCELLENT customer service and always keeps you posted on things.
The intake uses the stock throttle body cover, all you get is an S- tube and Filter. There is a second pipe in the piping.
Warning to those that have batteries other than AC Delco : you will have a VERY snug fit
I also did experience hood clearance issues (Weapon R said to remove the heat shield from the hood) The intake knocked off my batter post cover and made some sparks and toasted a metal support piece.
I can't say too much about the performance of the intake yet, I'll have to take the car to the track and see if I have any type of improvements.
What I can say about Weapon R is that they definately offer amazing service aswell. Leo (I believe he is the vice president?) walked me through trouble shooting and
installation over the phone.
pictures are of the issues I had, I resolved it by having the coupler pushed almost completely over the s-tube and left just enough of the coupler to cover the throttle tube so it can be clamped down to hold on.
Alex just a little heads up...I was talking to Bryan and the 2002 ECOTEC is the ONLY ECOTEC to not hook straight up to the throttle body.

yep, i spoke to leo @ Weapon R. he said the same. wouldnt the airflow be affected because the front of the intake is blocked by the fuse box?

The reason it's like that is because at the bend of the pipe, it's too small to have the inner tubing go at that bend and still be functional all the way through.
As far as it not going to the Throttle Body...I don't know why...
