Hey everyone, I have a 2.4 Twin Cam and I have an opportunity to get a 2.3 HO out of a wrecked Grand Am. If I can get it for free or really cheap would it be worth to get some stronger parts out of it for my 2.4?
I am just wondering If there are parts like the Cams and some other parts If there are parts worth getting could someone tell me what parts I should get and put in there. The GA is a 98 and the 2.4 is a 2001 Z24 w/ only 49k. By the way I did search and it was getting over my head. So I was hoping someone could explain it.

Ho - 89-94.
That GA has a 2.4. the only difference may be the cover. The guy swaped the cover and you think it's an HO.

Alright, I guess I have the wrong year on the GA or it may have the wrong cover its a car of a friends g/f so I dont know for sure where the communication broke down, I will find out for sure and it its a -94 ill come back

actually i think the HO came in 95 grand ams because that was the last year for that body style ( I had one like this) and the horsepower dropped a little bit each year for some reason
The Ho died in 94 at 170hp. 95 was a bastard engine. a 2.3 with balance shaft.

I think the 95's only had either a 2.3 or for a upgraded model, a V6. I dont think there was a 2.3 HO then. Like was said before, they were done in 94. I don't understand why they got rid of the 2.3 HO's or was it the continuing head gasket problems like the regular 2.3?

engine noise mostly i believe...the 2.3 ho is a bit noisy

Scott - Ok then, it's a redesing engine between the normal 2.3 and the 2.4.
Why did they discontinued the Ho? becase stupid people bought them thinking they could sit in traffic for hours and they were complaining because it was blowing up. I mean cmon, you buy a "sport" engine in a "sport car" and you sit in traffic for hours or drive like a blind 90 years old man. It was meant to be beat and run hard.
