How low can my ride be lowered on stock struts so that my stock struts don't blow?

I have Suspension Techniques springs (1.2" drop) on stock struts and have driven for about 10,000 miles on that setup and the ride is still smooth and comparable to the stock ride quality. Because of the small drop, the spring rate on these springs is close to stock, which means that the stock struts should have a normal lifetime of use before they need to be replaced.

You can do it, but the ride will suck. I had mine lowered on Sprint (1.8" drop) from Sept. 2002 till I sold my Cavy in February of this year. If the road was smooth, it wasn't too noticeable. A bad road, though, and watch out, cause you are going to be bouncing.

how would the ride feel if the struts were blown and your car was lowered? say a 1.5" drop?

That's probably the worse thing you can do on any car. Your shocks are meant to take so much. By lowering your car your giving it less distance to absorb in the shock which causes bottoming out. Your stock shocks/struts were designed for your stock springs, not aftermarket. Save your money and do it correctly because in the long run, you will regret it and hate the feel of your ride.

Save up for some Konis and do it right the first time. Riding on blown struts is not fun. I did it for a year and I would not recommend it to anyone else. Not only are your struts getting damaged by doing this, you are also damaging other suspension components as well. I had to reaplce the upper strut mounts and control arm bushings after a year on my blown struts.
