Hello All, For months now, I have endured the ETS light in the cluster, slipping in and out for no apparent reason. When the light came on (traction off), the transmission would give a heavy clunk, going into Drive, and shifting. It sounded like the Trans would fall out ! To reset the light, you had to do a full Ignition off, then restart the car. Then finally, it posted a "Check Engine" code of #0122, which is to replace Throttle Position Sensor. I changed this $50.00 part, and all has been smooth sailing ever since. The lesson here is that even though you may have trouble in one area (like transmission) the cure may found in a very different area (like the TPS). I almost had the Trans fully rebuilt ! Just info I learned, that may benefit others. P.S. has about 90,000 miles.

Yeah we had a sunfire in the shop with a 2.4 with an ETS light on. The throttle position sensor and the IAT sensor are somewhere in the circuit wired together to the same ground. If there's a data loss to the computer from any of the modules or sensors, for some reason it sends a code that sets the ETS light. It's wierd like that. Our problem ended up being that there was an open in the circuit somewhere between the TPS and the IAT sensor which caused the ETS light to come on. On top of that a wire was disconnected down at PCM, like someone cut the wire or something. That light is very misleading. So i know exactly what you mean. The shop that the car was at before said it needed a new computer, and ya'll know computers arent that cheap, and that wasn't even the problem.
