what is the difference between short ram and long ram intake
i have a 2000 cavy 2.2L
short ram is short and takes hot air in from the engine bay, a cold air intake takes cooler air from outside the engine bay. never heard of a long ram but i am guessing it would be a cai.

That is correct. Just to put emphasis on the cold air part, the tubing goes out of your engine bay and the filter is located in the wheel well.
Honestly, a "cold air" intake only takes air as warm or cold it is outside. If its cool outside, there can be a benefit, if it's warm outside than your still taking warm air into your motor. The engine bay while moving cools down alot and does develop more air movement so either intake you decide to get is good.

By the way NJs Honda Killa i love your new sig
Yeah true...there usually is a big arguement lol
Thanks, glad you like the sig

CAI (Cold Air Intake) are extremely misleading, because you are not truly getting cold air. Sure, its cooler then the air in the engine bay, but its still jsut as warm as the air coming off the pavement.
There is no such thing as a short-ram air intake, people jsut give that name to what is truly a WAI (Warm Air Intake). Some people will say these suck, cuz you always get hot air. NOT TRUE. You would be suprised how much air actually moves through engine bay. A WAI is not a bad choice in most cases.
A long-ram air intake, is more liek a "true" ram air intake. This would have a hood scoop of sorts where the air actually is "ramed" into the engine.
I personnaly have a WAI that I purchased from auto zone. Its a generic one (made for a honda civic) but if you flip it around it fits perfectly inour cars. Cost about $20 and works great.

i also agree with nastycav, get what you think will work for you. plain and simple
i personally went with the AEM cai and couldnt be happier, it for damn sure looks like its worth the money i pad for it and the fitament is spot on diggity. I do think however think, that a short ram would get a little quicker throttle responce than a cai. not usre tho.
If you want better high-end performance, go with a CAI.
If you want better low end performance, go with a WAI.
A WAI has much less tubing, and can therefor get the air to you engine easier and faster, and with less restrictions.
