I'm sure this has been asked before but i cant find anything. I have a 2001 cav with a 2200 sfi. What would i need to swap an ecotech in? Can i use my tranny from the 2200 for the eco? I just want to make sure i have all the legos before i start building my toy. Thanks for the help.

First of all, it's ECOTEC without the H...just to point that out so you don't post that anywhere else. People here are stupid and will chew you out because of you spelling it that way.

To answer your question, you would need the transmission because the one from the 2200 will not work on the ECOTEC motor, you will need the ECU, motor mounts (get aftermarket ones), tranny mounts (if it's manual, get aftermarket ones), you will need to either buy an aftermarket header or take the header off that car because the ECOTECs header is in the back of the motor & the 2200s is in the front (also they will not fit each other...2 different types of ports), the ignition system (the 2200 uses coils, ECOs use a distributor), & the fuel system.

That's all I can really think of to do the swap. Search in the Performance forum for threads on ECOTEC swaps to see if I forgot anything critical.

Just FYI, if want aftermarket motor mounts check out RK Sport, for the tranny mounts check out Car Customs.

Good luck with the swap.

An easier way would be to get the front clip of a 2.4 shipped to your shop from a Junkyard.
