hey guys, major question! I have been wanting to paint my dash, is there a way to get around the whole fiberglass thing to get the gloss look that everyone wants? I would like to do it myself and don't know how to use fiberglass so any help would be great!!
Don't do it bro. I've seen too many people try and try over and over and just don't get it right. It's too much of a pain in the ass, the paint might crack and just not look even, shiney enough or just plainly look crappy. It's alot of sanding and alot of painting and just too much work.
The only good way to try and do is probably fiberglassing. BUT I have seen some people do it where it came out ok but not great.
That's just my opinion.

you would have to take that rubber coat off the dash and just sand to no end. even then though its not going to fit right because you took the rubber coating off so theres gonna be gaps
Why not just cover it with one of those vynil kits
Vynil Dash Wrap
That way it won't crack and you can always go back to stock if you don't like it.

thanks for the advice! I have just one question, on the vynil dash wrap is that something that I can do on the whole interior of my car? The interior of my fire is tan and looks horrible, so I'm trying to get rid of that.
I looked and couldn't find any for my car 03 fire so anyone know where I can get it?
well boltz22 what is your opion on the painted dash?
well its your car you try what u want if u don't like what you did replace the part you screwd up.

i'm in the process of painting my dash. i'm doing a blue and black theme with krylon fusion. so far it's turning out pretty good.
i am though buying all new pieces so i have the stock pieces incase i want to sell it (since not everyone wants a painted dash).

SO EVERYTHING!
I agree with boltz. I am painting my interior, but for the vinyl portion of the dash, the headliner, and the rear deck (where the 6x9's are) I got white vinyl from Jo Ann Fabric. If you want to do it right, get ACTUAL vinyl, not that vinyl wrap stuff.
