I have a 1987 Sunbird Turbo GT Convertible. The car runs great and is a little hot rod from a 30 mph throttle mash, but it is dead off the line and 1/4 mile times are high 16's, low 17's. It also slows with each run on a given day even though I drive to the track. The car is an automatic. It is a neat little car and pretty rare at one of 917 built. The car is the right color of black & blue because I usually get pretty banged up when I try to work on it. There is more room to work on my V-8 Monza than this 4 banger. I would kind of like to sell the car, but I plan to enjoy it while I own it. The car has a Dynomax converter and Cat Back and a Hypertech 160 thermostat. I replaced the resrictive air box with a cone type filter, but now the car whistles under part throttle. Any tips would be appreciated. I would also like to find a buyer that understands how special and rare these cars are. I would guess there are less than 100 of these registered and on the road. I have a truckload of extra parts including a head, turbo and transmission. I know there is a classified page, but I might get excited about working on the car again if the discussion gets interesting.
If you want more performance out of your vehicle, find a way to raise the PSI on the turbo but also find out what PSI you are actually running by getting a PSI gauge.
If you really want to sell your car, put your car on the classifieds.

so do you want more performance or do you wanna sell it?
As far as the PSI, the factory gauge is hitting about 8 and I think that is all they get with the stock adjustment. I'm sure there is a way to get more and bring it up sooner or quicker. With a stick you could just launch at a higher RPM. Adjusting things won't have me pouring in more money unless I do it wrong and break something. I don't expect to sell the car tomorrow, why not keep on having fun with it while I have it? So I guess I want both - more performance and to sell it at some point. BTW - just what is that guy hugging in that photo?
