just bought a 99 GT. The fuel door seems to have a release (does not work) where would I find the release button?
Also, peg on dash seems to work an odometer but it does nothing, any thoughts?
the 99 gt does not have a fuel door release
you should be able to open the fuel door from the outside
my trip reset doesn't work either, annoying but i haven't found a way to fix it without replacing it yet
The 99 I have has a fuel door release inside the fuel door. It does not work, the tab is bent, but if i bend the tab back, it will work. I just don't know where the release button would be? What years had the fuel door release? Any thoughts on the peg on the dash?
do you press and hold the button? if its broke, I don't think there would be any way around that other then buying the proper part. Im pretty sure to get the gauge assembly out of that car, you will have to take the whole dash apart, which means messing around very closely with the airbag
Is the peg suppose to work an odometer? the only readout is the current vehicle mileage.
the pegs hould work the odometre, you should be able to press it once briefly, and it should change the display
it's strange that you have a gas tank release, I have never seen one on a sunfire
Would it be aftermarket then? The car has keyless entry, but again, I did not get a remote. Where do you think the release would be? I cannot find it anywhere. I certainly don't want to start tracing the cable.
hmm, mine has keyless entry as well, but still no release, it must be aftermarket if there is one, I would assume it qwould be down on the floor next to the drivers seat if anywhere, or perhaps in the glove box, if neither of those two places, your gonna have to trace the cable, it should be ran along the rocker panel driver side, just pop out the plastic molding that runs along the floor as soon as you open the door, it should be ran along there if anywhere.
the gas door doesnt have a release...your probably talking about the plastic pin that goes against the bent tab on the door...thats just there for tension to keep the fuel door from flinging open
On Toyota Cavaliers with remote fuel door, there is an emergency release behind the trunk's right hand side trim. Dunno if this of any help. :-) but worth having a look. I am curious to see how many extra options were put on JDM versions.

thats what an odometer is. the current vehicle mileage.
anyways, if you press the peg down the odometer should switch over to your trip odometer. if it doesn't give the top of the dash right above it a good smack. if that doesn't work, you're SOL.
