well for a newbie it would be a tough project for someone whos been turning wrenches for a while, a piece of cake. how much would it cost? depends if u want new or junkyard parts. is it worth it? probably not.......

People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......

He's correct. It's gonna take either alot of time, knowledge & tools to do it yourself or alot of money to pay someone to do it.

He's right again. You pretty much need a donor car to get all your parts OR you have to pay high priced GM prices to get everything you need (which would be out of this world).

If you read the following post it will tell you exactly what parts you have to have to make this swap and you also have to remember that those parts have to be for the SAME motor/tranny you're going to. I know the topic says for "ECOTECs" but it really refers to all of our cars.

With that said...the amount of money you will spend on the swap and pay someone to do it, you could have a built automatic transmission that holds more power and could be quicker than a manual transmission (with no driver error might I add).

I personally wasn't thinking the same thing a while ago...did research and found that it's not worth it. The info is in front of you, now you can make the decision if you want to go ahead or not.

There's a lot to change then just the trans. I wanted to swap a 4-speed into my 00 3-speed cavy but I decided to leave it like that. Might as well get another cavy that has a 5-speed manual than swap it. Just my opinion!!!
