Im in the works of getting a cavalier and was seeing if this was worth the buy.
1997 Cavalier 2.4l for $500
It has a bad water pump and at least 2 of the fuel injectors are bad. there is about 190k miles it as well but the body is in great shape.
i dont see why not. w/ that many miles i would just buy another motor. you can get those motors pretty cheap and just swap it in
any car that moves for 500$ is worth it.

Hell yeah man!! For $500.00 who cares if you'd need to swap in a new engine as long as the rest of the cars is straight.

^^^ yeah really if u bought it for 500 even without a motor you might be able to part it out and make some kind of profits....i say go for it man, people here will make sure u get it running if theres something you cant get.....good luck

hmm so.... waht year is it? and what engine? If you're thinkinng of doing an engine swap maybe wait for the Eco 2.4 or buy a JBP crate LD9
run the vin number to find out what year for free on the net. or check the driver side door.
mine was made in nov of 96 so every thing says its a 97.

if it was a 95 it would not have a 2.4 in it..it would either be a 2.3 or a 2.2 ...as far as the black bumpers i may be wrong but im pretty sure ive seen them on other year cavs...later 90s..but ive never seen any on a 2.4 z24..does seem odd ..but hey if the body is in good shape and the engine runs its definetly worth it...hell if you dont want it ill buy it for parts

i bought my 94 cavy rs for 800 bucks...
140,000 miles...runs like a top...id say buy it and get it running...

Just bought it
I was able to get it home but it died soon after. It would turn over but I stopped trying after I saw the gas leaking. I'm thinking about de insuring it for now, part it out and get a ecotec for it. I just became perm at my work so I feel a bit more secure dishing out the money, if you have SBC DSL with a wireless modem...please don't call tech support
