Hello guys, I'm finally done with my durango project and I'm gonna start workin on my cav again. Anyways, I got a 2.4 twin cam from the junk yard and currently working on finding someone around town to port and polish ect. I can't remember what tranny bolts up to the 2.4??? Anyone help real quick. But my other quick question is what different superchargers is there for the cavaliers? I know of the GM supercharger obviously and the Vortech supercharger you get from RSM. Is there any other ones?? And which could you get the most power out of?
I thinkin of goin with a 9.1 compression which should be about right. Then forged internals blah blah. And I have been reading posts about Alcohol injection or somethin. Can't remember what it was. I have never heard of having to run that if you run a lot of boost from a supercharger?? Just some questions, I have been out of the car side of it for a while. Winters here in Indiana are terrible so I parked the car for a bit and bought a Durango so when the snow comes, I'm ready! Well, Thanks for the help guys.
Well to answer your question...
The tranny depends on what year the 2.4 is. If it was a Pre-2000 2.4 Motor, you use the Isuzu Transmission of a 2.4 motor. If it was 2000+ you need the Getrag transmission off a 2.4 motor.
The GM Supercharger only works with the 2000+ 2.4s (something about the reflash) and of course there are Vortech Superchargers and that's it actually, no other companies make one.
Honestly, if I were you, I'd keep the stock compression ratio (9.5:1) with forged pistons so you don't lose any power by lowering it.
Good luck with your project.

^ what if you want an auto 2.4? than what do you do for the tras. if you have a 3 speed right now?
you will most likely have to get a new tranny if you have a 3speed
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
thought so, so just get a 4 speed and the pcm for it? and will i need new gauges and have to do anyhting with the shifter or not?

Take everything out of that donor car...transmission, cables, shifter, pcm etc.
Not sure if you'll need a new gauge or not...I doubt it though.

No they will not fit. No transmission from 2 different motors (even though both Getrags) will fit each other.
