newb question -_-; is this something i would bring to my local GM dealorship to replace the battery in my keyless entry remote, or can i do it myself? i heard that a gm dealer is the only one that can change the battery, and the cost of replacing it is hefty. if anybody knows the answer t this i'd appreciate it, thanks in advance.

you should be able to replace it in the remote.

If you look at your remote entry fob, you will notice around the outside ridge where the two peices of the remote are put together, that there is a peice around the edge that is indented form the rest of the fob. Take a flathead screwdriver or even a penny, in the indent or crease, and turn untill the two peices come apart, Inside your key fob will be a battery on one side, and the rubber template on the other. The battery just pops right out and wa-la. You can either replace it form a battery from a dealer which is like 6 bux, or you can go to the store and buy a battery. Just make sure that they are the correct size. Hope that helps.
I am what I am and it is what it is.
