How much would a worn clutch effect the performance of the car. For example, I have a 1997 Cavy Z24. When I just bought the car, it could do burnouts without revving and dropping the clutch. The wheels would always spin under hard acceleration in first gear. Now the only way I could burn out is by revving it and dropping the clutch. So I was just wondering if the problem could be a worn clutch. If not, what could it be?
if the clutch is slipping then yes but maybe its your tires. if you dont have the same tread depth as before that could play a factor as well as roads and weather and such forth.
Your clutch is an important part of your transmission...so it does effect your performance. Also, doing burnouts and such will burn your clutch. Remember, your clutch has to grab onto the engine, which is called Friction. When you spin the motor fast (rev high) and then make your clutch try to grab the motor, you are wearing down the teeth on the clutch and with time and abuse will cause more and more slippage.
How you drive your car will effect your performance. When you drive hard on parts that can't handle it, than your going to affect your performance.
If your clutch gets worn too badly, you won't be able to drive it correctly or possibly at all.

Yes, your tires could also play a part of why it's not burning out the same.

hmm. ok i will try new ones. I have 10k miles on mine but maybe new ones would fix the problem. See, when I just got my license, I was kind of an abusive driver. Now I learn my lesson from my mistakes. I go easy on my cavy. But I guess it is too late. The damage was done. It is kind of tough for me to shift. I check everything and the only option I'm left with is the clutch. i might replace that too. Which clutch would you recommend that would serve long for a daily driver, but also be able to withstand some abuse.

A stage 1 or 2 clutch will suit you fine. Yeah, your clutch is defenitley calling it a crap if it's hard for you to shift...you're having too much slippage and it's not grabbing as well. Atleast you're learning your mistakes.

I was just using that as an example of a loss of power. I know it is a stupid thing to do. That is why I said I learned from my mistakes. But yeah. I agree with you. I don't do it anymore. It isn't worth it.
