I started fiberglassin my box and everyone is tellin me to use fleece or a t-shirt type cloth so it soaks up the resin better and crap. Cant i just use 3 layers of fiberglass and be done with it???? I mean its called fiberglassin for the reason of u use fiberglass not some freakin fleece crap, Right?

we wouldnt tell ya somethin to mess it up
if you wanna do that..its your choice
we just tell ya what will work best to get the best results
(BTW-the fleece/cotton method works great)
just dont get pissd if it looks like a half/a$$d job
their probably talkin' about the fiberglass mat. thats good to use. you can use cloth too. make the box, cover it tight w/ cloth and then spread the resin on top of that
i talked to a guy that entered his car in nopi's show in atlanta this year and between him and his dad theyve been doin fiberglass work for 25 years. he told me to go with baby fleece for interior aplications due to the way it holds its shape pretty good after its been streched. great for skulls or other things formed 3d with fglass
Tomorrow im gonna go out to wally world after class and get about 10 feet of fleece, tomorrow night ill start to lay resin down then put the fleece over top of it then resin on top of that. saturday after work ill finish it up then put another lay of resin over the entire box then sand it smooth, bondo, sand, primer, sand if needed, then primer again and see how it works

well i started to do the fleece and i cant get it soaked unless i pour a crap load of resin on it and i've already used alot of the resin and i just went done to see how it was and only the spots where i poured some on to spraed out are dry the rest is still wet. So how long does this stuff take to dry on fleece?

I just used t-shirt material for my fiberglass projects. The resin soaks it up super quick, and it gets it covered thru evenly. It also stretches very easily in all 4 directions. Some only stretch in 2.

Well im surprised no one has given the correct answer. You use fleece or any other cloth to stretch out and make your form. You use fiberglass mat or cloth for strength. So your first layer is the cloth. Then yur next layers need to be fiberglass mat or cloth. Just fleece will NEVER be as strong as fiberglass cloth or mat. I would do as many layers as needed untill you get it about 3/8-1/2 in thick. Strong enough for you to stand on without it flexing at all.
Jeremy
well im just doin the outside of an already made box so i already have the shape made.

on the fleec go to a dollar stoer and pick up cheap brusshes, cut them down to about half leng you have to push it down into the material, and give it time,
ya me and a buddy were fibreglassin two 10" custom sub enclosures..funny we never did complete that..but ya we bought the 4 directional fleece..very easily stretched in all shapes. We made the fibreglass molding from the corners of his trunk..looked pretty cool as far as we got..never finished though.
do i have to lay fiberglass over my fleece ?
