every other under the hood picture, i see somebody with a yellow battery. why is that? is it a certain brand? probably a pure newb question.
i used mainly for people who have lots of stereo stuff in there car
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
The optima yellow top battery is a deep cycle Gell core battery.
You can mount them in any position, even upside down. They take a beating. they dont need venting, and are good if you badly discharge them repeatedly, they charge right back up. Also it has a 2 year discharge rate, meaning i can have it on a shelf in storage for 2 years and still start up my car. Most batteries are 8 months to a year.
how much do they run on average?
seems like ive seen them for about 130-150.00 at auto stores.
also, on a smiliar note (so not to jack, heheheh..)...what is the differences/pros/cons of a red top optima to a yellow top optima?
...don't hate!.. respect people that have talent, even if it is in something you don't like or understand.
i believe red is better for starting up fast and stuff but yellow top is for systems and what now.

a yellow top runs on average of $180 USD.
Red top is 1000 CCA ( cold cranking amps ) Its specificly made for just starting your car and running the basic electrical systems in your car. Works well in even the most rough conditions, even extreme cold and heat.
Yellow top is a deep cycle battery. 850 CCA. Its good for those who like to have their system a blaring when their car is off. It has an extra long discharge time, and will start a car even with a 90% discharge.
Blue top is a Marine battery. Not much different from a yellow top, other than its color, and is a bit more durable then the other two.

There is a warrenty on them.
thats the next mod in 2 weeks
im hoping to pick one up soon
cause everytime i let my car set with my system on its dead within 5 mins.
i want one so bad. does it have top and side post terminals?
Yes, but you can choose just to have top or just sides.
On mine, i have the stock wiring on the side terminals, and my stereo cables on the top terminals.

the warranty when i had mine was for 2 years i believe..
it died last year after about 5 years of abuse
the new optimas have a 6 month warranty i believe..might be 1 year
but i know optima has really skimped on the new warranties
I have a year on mine.
Some stores have an extra coverage warrenty. As Since they sell so many, if your battery is irrepairable, even after optima warrenty, some stores fill give you a new battery free, or at a big discount. This is how they stay in business.
thats some hotness!! how much do one of those bad boys run? i just bought a $85 one and it died, some tech told me it was the cheapest on the market.
oh and let's say you leave your amp switch or neons switch on.....and the thing dies, does the warranty give you a new one???
optima batteries are about $180.
And even if you completely drain the battery, there is a good chance you can just jump it or charge it again.

You know most emergency vehicals use them, engines off, lights on.
I love my Optima, and I have the lighter/smaller Honda one mounted in the truck. Still 300x better than the factory AC Delco battery!
Car starts up way better, and I can leave @!#$ on for a lot longer without the car running.
Hate to knock these things that you all seem to love but they go bad just as much as a regular battery does. When I worked at Advance Auto I warrentied just as many Optimas as I did the cheep ones and for the money theres Nooo way I would ever buy one knowing that the warrenty rate is that of the cheep ones.
They just are not worth the cash IMO.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Some times for performance, its worth the price.
