everyone shaves their side moldings but i have no clue how to do it. i don't want to pay a body shop 50 bucks just to take them off.
After you do it, you would realize that $50 would be a steal to have a professional remove them.
Basically you take fishing line, put it behind the molding starting at one end, and saw it off. Then you take the sticky crap thats left on there and either roll it off with your fingers (this would make even the toughest of guys cry at the end of the job), or find some really good cleaner and scrub it off.

i didn't cry
but anywho...its VERY EASY
i'm sure theres a write up somewhere, but i'll give you a quick version
- make sure its warm outside, the hotter the better..park your car in the sunlight.
- let it sit for 20 mins
- go outside and put a fishing line behind the molding and slowly start the see-saw motion....it'll come right off
-the molding will peel right off
-take goo-gone and wipe the sticky stuff off
i know kev just wrote it..but i thought i'd write it too
shoot..thats not kevin...
my bad!
haha

Q: How do I remove the side moldings off my j-body?
You need the following materials:
- fishing line
- scissors
- gloves (optional; I highly recommend using them because the fishing line
will really start to hurt your fingers after a while)
- 3M Adhesive and Tar Remover (in a teal can; can be found by automotive
paint at Wal-Mart)
- a towel or rag
Here are the Instructions:
1. Cut a piece of fishing line that is about a foot long. No matter how
careful you are the fishing line will eventually break and you will need to
cut more.
2. Take the piece of fishing line and put it behind one end of the moulding
or badge. Begin working it up and down behind the moulding or badge.
3. Continue working it up and down until the moulding or badge comes
completely off.
4. Once the moulding or badge has come completely off, spray some 3M
Adhesive and Tar Remover on the area and let it sit for a few minutes.
5. Take a towel or rag and start scrubbing the area. You will have to
re-spray the remover a few times to get all the adhesive off.
6. Once all the adhesive has come off, wash and wax the car and you're done.
rolling the sticky stuff sucks, gave me blisters on my thumbs. but well worth the end result.goo gone helps

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
you guys did it the hard way. i let mine bake in the sun for a while. walked up to them, grabbed a corner, pulled slowly.
4 moldings X 2 sets of tape per molding=8 peices of long annoying tape.
with my method, i had to remove 1 peice of tape if you add all the little peices from all four doors together.
just pull slowly so you can see if it starts to jack up your paint.
GO PATS!!!
haha actually... i just took a blow dryer to mine, used a screw driver and popped them off. Then used goo goo for the residue. I know... I did it the "he didn't use his head" way... but no paint peeled or scratches... it looks perfect.
Blisters here you come !!
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
