Headlight? Taillight?
Monday, December 12, 2005 4:27 PM
Hi, everyone. I'm new to this forum and I just wanted to ask a question about headlights & taillights.

Does anyone have know how to change the headlight & taillight bulbs?
Perhaps some pics?

Dont have any pics but I will take you through it step by step.

Headlights:

Open your hood and use a standard screwdriver to take the push pins out of the black cover piece for your radiator.

Underneath near the top of your headlights will be 2, 12 or 13mm I cant remember bolts. Take those all the way out on both sides.

You assemblies should then be able to flip forward. Yes FLIP forward. Being very careful with the connection.

You should then be able to take out the bulb through the back.

Taillights:

Open your trunk. On my car I have a cargo net with a screwtype connector holding the cheesy carpenting down. Unscrew that.

You should then be able to peel back the carpeting.

You can the reach in and remove the bulb from the back. Mine has a connection you have to squeeze not twist.

Hope this helps.

Well, I did do a SEARCH, but all that came up was something about toyota taillights.

Another question, how do you replace the bulbs that are in the trunk( Ones in the middle.)

Exact same as the outers. Even uses the same bulb. At least it is on my 02.

Are you sure because the bulbs don't seem like they will come out of the socket easy.

for the outer tails, all you do is pull the carpet back, pull out the tail light assembly and then pull out the bulb. the inner ones you do the same, except for pulling the carpet back

You dount even have to pull the assembly. Granted it would make it easier to reach. First unplug the connection, press the clip and pull. Then you should be able to twist out the connector holding the bulb. Same on both inners and outers. If it doesnt twist out without much effort. STOP or you'll find yourself replacing it after it breaks in your hand.
