I can't get my oil filter off, even though i tightened it with my hand last time. i can't even get it off with any tool including an oil wrench (no room to turn)(02 sunfire) is there anything that works to get this thing off besides going in up top or through the wheelwell. cause i can't get to it through those spots, any help would be appreciated. otherwise i won't be able to drive my car!! thanks

your is right behind the passenger side wheel right? if you take the tire off there is room under the to get the wrench on it. thats how i do mine. did you happen to put oil around the seal of the new filter or did you just put it directly on?

If you're dead set on getting it off, pound a screwdriver through it.

thanx for the help guys. never thought of taking the wheel off so i'll prolly try that. as for the screwdriver there isn't even enough room to pound a screwdriver through it. I won't be going with k&n oil filters ever again

if yours is where i think it is (the same as mine) once you get the wheel off and get under there, there is plenty of room to get it out (atleast compared to my integra). like i said, did you put oil around the seal of the new filter when you put it on or did you just open the box and put it on? if you didnt put oil around the seal, thats probably why

i have never took my tire off all i do is put my car on ramps and go under it then use the oil filter tool to get it off.

i use sand paper around it and twist works great for me

You could have just put a 1" socket on the end of it to take it off.

Strap wrench with a really big extention! Works every time.

or u get the fram with the sure grip and use ur hand, never ever had a prob gettin mine off

on my dodge ram 1500, i used the fram w/the grip and i could barely get it off once and never used it again. i even had the oil wrench digging into the grip stuff and it took awhile to get it to turn. and yes i put oil around the seal. ill stick with the mobil 1 filters
