Low torque????

ok I figured I would post this in the newbie forum so people didn't make fun of me too bad, but I have never had a new 4 banger, I had a old z24 in the day (95ish) and after that I had a 1990 buick century until now with my 03 cav. Anyways, I got stuck in the snow the other day, the @!#$ towtruck dude at my apartment complex piled snow up behind me, and behind the snow was a stop sign so I couldn't just floor it to get it out. And I didn't have a snow shovel. So I tried to push through it and ended up getting stuck somewhere in the front section of the car right where the front wheels where about half an inch off the ground. Wonderful, right? Well I pushed the car around and got the front wheels touching, but every time I tried stepping on the gas to rock it back and forth the wheels didn't spin. the traction light would come on and it seemed like since it wasn't gripping it wouldn't let me spin the wheels and do what I was trying to do. Well the question I am trying to ask is IF i ever get in the situation where rocking the car to get it out of a slick spot would be to my advantage, is there any way to disable the traction control to where it would let me spin my wheels as I please???? Or was the traction control even preventing me from spinning the wheels or was it not enough torque to get the car/wheels moving?

Click the e-brake up a notch. That should keep the traction control from engaging.

if its an auto, put the gear selector to 1st or 2nd gear, that also works. That way you dont have to have the ebrake pulled and hear that stupid dinging noise.

Mine doesnt have traction control. I can sit there and spin all day. Maybe it came only with some models.

Interesting...

I really think it's either

A) A transmission thing...jbody2nr has a manual, no traction control...Skyler has an automatic

or

B)A model difference...jbody2nr has a base model, meaning less options and features...Skyler has an LS Sport, more options and features than a base model.

That's my conclusion...

I had to do this once or twice when I got stuck in the snow. When trying to get out of the snow, it helps to have BOTH front wheels spinning haha.
