Does anyone know what the 0 to 60 time is for a 2002 Cavalier with the 2200 motor? What is the difference between the 2.2 ohv and the 2200?

im sure that someone knows the average time for a stock one...but if you wanna know one if mods...you relaly have to find it out yourself at the track. mainly because all cars take differently to different mods.

Both motors are basically 2.2 OHV motors. When people refer to each one
differently they are talking about the 2 different motors that were
produced. The 2.2 OHV was produced from 1995-1997 and that motor had
side feed injectors. In 1998, GM devoloped wht is called the 2200 OHV motor
which has top feed injectors, changed the coolant passages, reversed the
coolant flow, and revised some of the valvetrain and dubbed it the 2200
98-02.

^^^^ I love it when people quote the FAQ lol

Also David, it depends on which transmission you have also to determine your 0-60 time. Either way, nothing impressive at all.

so does anybody know any good upgrades other than the sc or turbo?

a few electric superchargers and a leaf blower...big power and cost effective...

I hope you know there is a lot more work than just slapping on a SC or Turbo, along with a large chunk of $$.

2002-2005 2.2 ECOTEC - 140 Horsepower / 150 lbs of Torque

On your cardomain site you say you have a est. HP of 165, you think you got 50 HP from an intake, cat back and plugs?! Sorry, but

And I seriously doubt that 'kill list' you have set up there:

2000 Ford Focus(The guy was all show)
2002 Ford Focus
1995 Acura Integra(was definately a close one)
1997 Chevrolet Cheyenne(will be beaten in the near future)
2000 Ford Focus(Hell my Cavy should be called the "Focus Killer")
2003 Chevrolet s10 Extreme
Kawasaki Cafe Racer

And be more specific with what kind of Focus...

But hey, if you killed them, then great job! You must have one special 2200

Just read this too...

I have recently installed an AEM Cold Air Intake system and a throttle body spacer which increased my horsepower to about 150.

Again, first off, the TB spacer is junk, you wasted some money there...secondly no way you increased 35 HP with this...

You should really do some reseach before you claim this stuff and buy it...

We are here to help you out.

Look to give this guy a straight answer, ive got a 2200 and with an intake on it i estimated 0-60 in my 3 speed auto (going up hill slightly) at about 16-17 seconds, so people are running quarter miles in that time and alot lower. Again very rough estimate, using the display on my radio and subtracting so...

on carb engines the TB spacer has the capacity to allow gains.

When you put a spacer under the throttle body all it does is move where the throttle body is. But if its a carburated car the point where the fuel is put into the air stream is changed. This raises where the engine makes its peak hp and since you've raised where its making its peak hp it also adds a couple of horses, But on our cars since the fuel is still being sprayed into the air stream in the same place then nothing is changed.

Now the reason it works on V8 fuel injected cars is that it can add a couple horses by moving the throttle body away from the hot intake and helping it keep cooler.

Some people tap the TP spacer for nitrous setups instead of drilling the throttle body though, but I've never actually seen this done personally.

it's junk. for the money you could do a whole lot better.

yioull have a quarter time of just under 18 secondswith a trap of like 80
so 0-60 in 9ish seconds is about right, that is in a 3 speed auto

Takes my car about 5 min.

my old 97 2.2 OHV AT 3 speed used to do about 10-13sec from 0 to 60.....and that is with intake and full 2.25 exhaust....yeah they are that SLOW....never took it to the 1/4mile...it would have been embarrassing

theres always hope for some 2200s....

http://www.j-body.org/members/coxs95cav/cars/1/

he was just above 70mph at the 1/8 in 10.2 and he put down a 15.995 sec 1/4 mile time. but he is one of the few that had a 2200 that reacted really well to mods.
