stock for stock... a decent driver

2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe 8.4 16.7
2006 Honda Civic SI 7.2 15.1 (Edmonds)

Your Cavalier would run mid 15's in the 1/4 mile. So nothing for the 2000 Civic, for the SI, intake, full exhaust, mounts, and good driving.

I understand this is a newbies question but that's too vague of a question. Each Vtec motor has different specs and come in different sized vehicles...also there are people who do swaps. So this question could say what does it take to beat an Integra GSR or what does it take to beat an S2000 or what does it take to beat a Hatchback Civic swapped with an H22?

Instead of picking a specific car you want to beat, you should pick how much actual power you're looking for out of your vehicle (or motor). Comparing two different types of motors isn't going to get you anywhere.

You're dumb. DO you know what it takes for an eco to run 15.1? A stock eco will runs upper 15's. he needs more than 180 HP do pull that off and better tires. you have 140 hp. You couldn't even beat a stock gsr.

ask a better question. do you know how many types of vtec there are. iF you talking about a economic vtec like a civic ex, than you should win. If you're talking about DOHC vtec than you need to be a better driver and get some decent mods to you're car. you only have 140 HP. a civic 99-00 SI is the slowest of us and they run about 15.6-15.7 So you'lll deff need another 20 HP. I/H/E suspension work and clutch and flywheel and you should be able to take him

B.S. Jackalope runs 14.86 with basic bolt ons on his ecotec. No internal work. Guaranteed he's not putting down 180hp. He has slips to prove his runs. Check his registry.

Another member here did 15.2 with his stock cavy with the stock goodyear tire. Yeah, those 14" POS of rubbers.

I saw him so I know it's true.

Tire and power doesn't mean s*** when you can't drive. If you know how to drive, you can be alot of faster car with poor drivers.

Are the new cavs lighter, I know obviously a 2002 and lower with a 2.4 would be heavier but what about a 2002 with an ecotec, would it not be the same as an 03+ with the same options???

No they aren't lighter than the previous years. Now of course this is comparing certain models to certain models (example: 1998 Base Model vs. a 2003 Base Model). Yes, the ECOTEC is lighter than the 2.4 but it's not by such a huge margin that the ECOTECs have that much of an advantage.

Overall, we are all about the same weight comparing option to option and model to model.

So does that mean my 02 ecotec would weight the same as an 03+ or more......obviously it would be heavier then a base model cuz mine has all the option power everyting and moonroof but an 03+ with the same options would be lighter or the same/close enough to the same???

sorry for the confusion

Your 02 LS Sport vs. an 03+ LS Sport will weigh the same. Same motor and options.
