Hey ,yes Iam newbie and I have been searching on this site for awhile
and to start I have a 2002 chevy eco 5 speed manual trans ..really stock except for muffler, and I was thinking BOOST but what I want to know is there is any "pre-turbo"
parts I can get until I reach that goal.....nothing like intake or parts that will be useless when I get the turbo because I will have to remove them...but llike pistons to lower compression or what would be a good start....I saw in a different forum about the fuel rail would need to be changed from an 03.....any suggestions ...thanks....

You can always upgrade your exhaust system to 2 1/2 and gain a little bit of power for the time being.

Honestly, stuff that benifits you with a turbo, hurts you naturally aspirated (all motor). Lower compression pistons, bigger exhaust etc etc...all hurts you all motor. My suggestion is save your money and invest it all in turbo parts and also tuning money. You're gonna need a good amount of cash to get your car running properly. It's especially harder to boost a car that doesn't come boosted factory properly so you're gonna need money just incase problems may arise.

Were you planning on building a kit yourself or buying a turbo kit?

Also, welcome to the

well I wanted to buy a kit, but the more I looked into it i can get most of the parts that the hahn kit comes with seperately, the turbo it self and probably the intercooler, my buddy has a VR-4 and can help me with the build . but I really dont know ... did you custom make yours? what do you think is the better decision making one or purchasing?

Well, I would say this from personal experience...

I had a great friend and he happend to be a very very very good installer of my turbo setup. I had bought about 7 U - Bends and he cut them and welded them together and set everything up with the help of a couple friends. Now, from watching him do all this work and do it right, I would say unless you have someone who can do the intercooler piping AND downpipe to your exhaust properly, don't get a custom exhaust setup. Most performance shops will charge you a ton of money cause you don't have an import or because your exhaust side is in the back instead of the front like most import 4 cylinders.

A turbo kit would be the safest way to go and if you get it from a reputable company, you are gauranteed to have everything fit correctly.
