Didn't want to cludder any of the forums, and I am a newbie..so I thought I wouldn't get flamed at least for asking these things here heh.
1. Tuner Tube, I read that it gives a bit of a boost to your cars growl, not much but something at least if you remove it from your intake. I removed it rather easily to my surprise (first thing I've ever done on a car) and can't really tell anything special...does the tube actually affect anything else or could it void a warranty?
2. Shift Kit, I have a 99 2200 Pontiac Sunfire with a 3 speed automatic. Is their any shift kits for it that would work on it fairly easy to install, or any at all. Also...I've heard theres a shifter that looks as if its a manual shifter but its for an automatic that I'm interested in buying but I can't find what brand it is.
3. Exhaust, looking to buy a new cat-back but I can't find any media files to what the exhaist would actually sound like, anyone have any for the sunfire?
4. Intakes, All an intake does is inc. Gas Mileage/HP right? If I were to install lets say a AEM or a Weapon R CAI onto a 120 hp sunfire, would I see at least a 10 hp. bump and a better sound from the engine or am I shooting to high?
1. Does not void any warranty, and it only increases noise, no power gains or losses.
2. There are no electronic shift kits for 3 speeds, only valve kits that require the transmission to be removed and disassembled.
3. There are a couple in the performance forum if you search.
4. You get a slight gain in hp with an intake, I don't think you'll see 10hp, but its a little better than what you have. You will get a completely different sound to the engine though.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
1) Maybe a 1-2 hp gain, but that's stretchin it
2) ATI Interceptor or equiv... since ATI is now out of business, probably going to have to go with the equiv.
3) Check the Photos/Media forum advanced search -

Do "Exclude replies" to keep the results to a bare minimum. Do a variety of searches ("exhaust sound", "exhaust", "exhaust clip", "sound clip", etc...) cause sometimes the titles don't match what you are looking for at first.
4) Shootin too high. Unless you live in an area that requires CARB legal equipment, pick up an eBay short ram and call it good. Does the same thing.
Ok, I retract #2... my bad
Thanks for the quick reply Shifter, I'll search that forum for the media files.
A few more questions...
Strut Bars improve stability and allows me to turn and such better correct, well I was looking at Aplusperformance and they have a strut bar Model # as-tbcv95, question is would it fit a 2200 that in the future is looking to get a ram-air hood on it?
To lower a car, what exactly do you need to do it right? Im looking somewhere in the 2-4 hundred dollar range for this one. I know a friend of mine took the springs off his Dodge Dakota and heated them up and they shrank down I guess. I was thinking of buying some adjustable coilovers, but I would also have to purchase something else right?
Do not heat the springs...
Save up a little bit more...
All depends on how far you want to drop.
For the right way, you need springs and struts. For a mild drop, go with the Eibach Pro-Kit and KYB AGX combo. Anything over 1.5" drop (ie Eibach Sportlines), probably going to need to get Koni Yellows.
I don't know about coilovers so if someone wants to take that one.
Save your money and do the suspension correctly. Personally I'm not willing to spend less than $800 on suspension, this is what keeps your car attached to the road, don't cheap out.
Look in Photos & Media under Darkstars "New Suspension" post to see what happens when you heat springs.

This should answer your question about the strut brace general question...

I think it was Event that did a nice write-up about the different types of braces but for the life of me I cannot find that thread...
Damn you guys got to this thread before me lol

NJHK, figured I'd give ya a break on a thread... you deserve it.
Difference between the AEM and that one is the brand name (which you end up paying for) and filter, but that one will work just as well. Also, IIRC, the AEM is CARB legal, where as this one isn't. Again, that will only matter if you are in an area that requires CARB equip.
Good to see that you have a good direction as to where you are going and getting the questions answered now rather than when it's too late
Correction: "we'd", not I'd... I think I need some sleep.
What exactly does CARB legal mean, doesnt it have something to do with fumes?

CARB = California Air Resources Board
Mainly a strict emissions and inspection thing... some places have picked up on the CARB standards, some haven't... Course, it's mainly in CA where you would have to worry... Now if where you live doesn't have emissions and inspection, no worries

lol well then... I'll just have to letcha take over from here.
That it was... that it was...
I figured since he didn't know what CARB was, just keep the answer short and sweet.
Ok, well I live in Southern IL...so there is no emissions..haha
On strut bars, does it matter the brand on these too, seems like I've found 120 dollar ones and then there is 25 dollar ones on Ebay..
Also..*probally last question tonight lol*
I plan on doing the Big 3 in my auto class sometime soon, because I do get dimming when bass hits.
So do I need anything to actually do this or can I use the stock wires in the engine?

They are all basically the same BUT the only thing I would watch for is fitment as far if it matches your strut pattern correctly and if the bar fits undneath your hood closed without damaging your hood. So, I'd get away from the $25 No name Ebay parts. Check the JBO Classifieds for people selling them.
