Newb question: How can I tell if I have ABS, is it part of the vin #?

if you slam on the breaks, does the car not skid but instead does the brake peddle push up against your foot and a weird zapping noise there too?
when you start your car does the ABS light turn on? if it does then you have ABS.

well, I've never slammed on the brakes. I can't remember if there's a light when I start it. I don't know if I have an ABS fuse. I just wanted ways to find out tomorrow. Thanks.
