Another custom CAI question...kinda
Tuesday, April 04, 2006 4:18 PM
I just got my 97 Cavalier 2.2L like two months ago and I just bought an air filter. I was wondering if you guys have any ideas of how i can create my own intake without pipesor any of that aluminum tube stuff. I'm planning on placing the air filter near the fog lights so if you guys could help a newbie out...that would be great.

(please God don't flame me)

peace.

Well you're going to need something to route from the air filter if it's going to be in the front...so yeah, you're gonna need a pipe or some type of tube.

What you can do is relocate it to behind the front bumper area if you want but that's going to require alot of piping.

Honestly, it won't make a difference in power wise if you keep it in your engine bay or outside of the engine bay. This whole concept of "warm air" and "cold air" is just a gimmick. Inside your engine bay you generate enough air flow to keep it cool and still bring in a cool air charge into your motor (of course depending on temperature etc.).

ok dude, check it out

which looks like it flows better, and gets more air to your engine

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

or

-------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------

that is what is good about piping less resistance

and honestly you are not going to see a big diff between what is called "cold" and "warm" air intakes, just get one of ebay, it will do, or go turb, that would be even better!
