Hey. I'm 18 and live in New England. I just bought an '03 Sunfire, 2.2 Eco, Auto. It's pretty much brand new.
The community here looks decent and helpful. Since I bought it straight from a dealership, there is nothing on it after-market wise. I'm looking for some starting tips or opinions on what I should start doing. I was thinking a short ram, header/catback and some low-end stuff. Eventually performing a manual swap. Also installing a turbo (eventually, income isn't that high but will increase during the summer.
Anyway, I hope i can gain some knowledge here and eventually fit in.

Welcome to the addiction, bro. Its always nice to have a fellow New Englander on the boards. Check out the regional forums, meets are being set up now that its getting warmer.
To get yourself started, check out each forum and its respective stickies and FAQ's at the top of the pages. They're filled with information and more than likely answers to your questions about many things. As for what you should do, you should think about it before you spend one penny. You should ask yourself 'what do I want to achieve with this car?' and go from there.
If you really would like to go with boost later on, it would be a wise choice to start saving now and not waste money on parts that will eventually have to be replaced. Pick up Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost" and read it a few times, it might intimidate you at first but that book will guide you through practically all the aspects about boost.
Good luck.

Welcom Zook. Us newbs gotta stick together if we don't wanna get eaten.
I like my ecotech also but sometimes seems difficult to find just what you are looking for in an upgrade for it. If you dare to crack it open, your local GM dealership service center can order a crank and forged pistons for it. I got kinda giddy when i saw that.
Nastynoise - Its Ecotec*. People will jump on you around here if you spell it wrong.
Also, no need for new pistons unless you're looking to build and/or boost. And a new crank isn't necessary either.

sorry Filip, my fingers outran my teeny brain.
I heart Jason with the fire of a thousand suns.
nastynoise - Its all good, brother. And you don't have a teeny brain, don't let anyone put you down for who you are (and all that other mushy sh1t).

Filip is the only nice one here....the rest of us hate you
sometimes it seems true... but dont let it get you down..
and the biggest tip i saw is, that if you have "future" plans to turbo and your set on them dont waste money on things! like intakes ( i say intakes because i went through 3 until i got it right), header, mufflers that you replace with full exhausts, exhaust piping thats to small for a turbo, etc. and on other things: cheap coilovers from ebay, cheap struts not made for a drop, crapy vynal you soon realize is ugly and you take off, etc..
Plan everything you do, make sure your in it for the long haul, and stick to it. Save money and do it right once. You will thank yourself later.
