Greetings, Sunfire question!
Wednesday, May 24, 2006 6:35 PM
Hey everybody this is my first time on the site, it looks like it will answer a lot of questions I have. I bought a used 2000 sunfire GT 2dr. august 2005. I love it! It's my first car. I came with an intake and mufflers. I've added 18" Motegi DP6 chrome rims. I plan to get a body kit (probly a RKsport Streetfire) and I want to shave the antenna and spoiler. My questions are:

#1 Is it legal to have clear turn signal lights up front?

#2 Are there any alternatives for reverse lights besides the ones that go between the tail lights?

#3 Is there anyway to get rid of the 'sunfire' and red strips that are located between the tail lights?

Thanks for the help, I'm very new on the car scene and hopefully I'll learn lots on the site!

hi Matt.

first and foremost, before we can answer legality questions, you need to fill out your profile fully. we don't know till we know where you are. in MOST states in the US, you have to have amber turn signals up front...so get clear housings, and buy Silverstar turn signals. they look bluish, but light up amber.

the rest of your questions can be answered by other J owners...welcome to the site.

1- yes as long as your have orange or white (not blue or blueish) bulbs you will be fine

2- Yes, you can mount the reverse light wherever with a lil custom work, be creative

3- You can paint that panel body color or make a new filler piece out of fiberglass or metal.

1) as mentioned before, as long as the light emitted is amber/yellow -- Yeppers (Go with LED bulbs... hehehe)

2) Yes, 01-02 Sunfires have them mounted in the bumper

3) Yeah, but that takes some paint. The filler panel is held in with (I think) 9-10 quiknuts (10mm) that are on the inside of the trunklid... remove those and the panel will come off.
