Opnions/Help Please PICS (56kwarning)

Hey Ive been here for a few months reading as much as I can. Finnaly decided to get rid of my '99 Grand Am Se2 for a Z-24. Took a long time to find one with the options/ colors I wanted but I finnaly found it in Grand Rapids, MI. Paid too much and its deff not perfect but Its more "me" then the GA was. Car gets pretty good MPG. About 27mpg average driving average. When I babied it I managed 33mpg. The car is STOCK right now. I dont know much about these cars though I read and learn more every day. On to the pics.

Bassicaly Just a red Z 24. 1998. Notice the dent near lower back door area.

Any ideas on how to get this out? Would it be a waste of time/waste of money?

Another Pic

The front. Missing that plate in front. Any one have a red one they would part with?$?

Just a side view

Bottom of passenger door is bubbling/rusting. Should I just replace the whole door?

Back tires are old and very hard, I think the car sat for a while, and carfax pretty much says that. My dad says these tires are unsafe, and it could blow out at any time. I think hes right. Should I replace back tires, or get tint?

When washing your cars, does your spoiler hold water hardcore?

The Int.

Gauges, my gas guage goes like 200 miles before it moves a signficant amount. Happen to others? Used fuel injector cleanor, put new air filter, fuel filter(<never changed in 120k) and will be switching over to M1 next week. Sometimes if I rev the car with clutch in it goes down to 400 ish rmp and like tries to strugle and die. Has did this 3 times. Any ideas? Sparkplugs?

The car has 120xx on it now and I dont know if the water pump has been changed. Should I assume so because of the miles on the car? I know the car was in an accident because i have paperwork that came with the car, along with all service records. Appears passenger side, rear seatbelt was replaced 4 times, wtf? All work done at GM dealership in Grand Rapids, MI. Drives nice and is realibale. WHile 400 rpm thing freeks me out at times but doesnt happen much. One power window is faster than the other, is that normal? Fan settings 1 & 2 dont work, but i read thats common. I have no want to fix it because of the lack of space. When I turn it to defrost on window, the AC light lights up, even if its not pushed in. Is that normal? Been shifting at 2500 dont want to kill it. Can these cars take 4000 RPM? If anyone has any advice or just anythign to say dont hold back. Anyone in lansing/battle creek area of MI that wants to get together chime in. Thanks Nate

not a bad car at all, looks good. there are a few guys in the classifieds selling front plate fillers.
i cant really see the dent in the drivers side, but i would try a suction cup dent puller first and try that.

the rear tires need to be replaced ASAP they are very dangerous to be driving around on.

im not sure about the passenger door, im sure someone else on here can help you out with that.

welcome to the ORG

car looks damn good... paint looks a hell of a lot better than mine does used.

drivers door(from what i can see) looks to go into the rear quarter panel. itd def be worth it to get it fixed. shouldnt be too much trouble. passenger door shouldnt be too much trouble to fix either. rust you will want to get fixed, becuase it will get worse. rear tires should be replaced, without a doubt.. as it was stated, they are HIGHLY unsafe... id go for a decent set of 4 tires, and just have that be done. and about the spoiler, itll hold a little, but not enough to cause any real problems. when i start to drive, whatever little water is stuck there will come out the back and dry. i know im gonna eventually take it off and give it a good cleaning, and wax the paint under there.

you got a nice lookin Z24, so good luck dude, and welcome to *

Hey, I'm over in St. Joe Right now, moving to Grand Rapids next week. I've got a 97 ls, a 2002 RS and my good friend has a 2000 Z, so if you want to come over and check out, we've got all the models covered in our driveways.

And to let you know, the low rpm thing, happened before to me, it might be a leak somewhere, I'm not sure, I had the mechanic just fix it for me and didn't ask (Yes, I trust my mechanic that much, I'm sorry I have to leave them behind)

Yeah, my older cav has the fuel gauge that doesn't move for a while, it seems to do that on all the ones with the fuel gauges that have the 1/2 straight up, the ones that are sideways seem to work better.

Don't assume the water pump was replaced, most likely it hasn't. I know it's bad, but my 97 has 250k on it, and the only parts that have been replaced on it are the starter and the alternator.

Don't worry about the A/C light, when you have the defrost on, it always turns on. I'm not exactly sure, someone else I'm sure can explain much better than I can, but I guess it has something to do with the a/c drying out the air or something.

And the RPMs, I've run mine up to 6000 in my RS, no problem. I don't know how high my friend has taken his Z, but he drives kinda fast and hard, so I'm sure he's redlined it more than a few times, and I believe redline for him is around the 6k mark.

Later, keep the west michigan Js looking good

nice looking car... i've always liked Z24's in red, almost got red myself

anyways the spoiler does like to hold water or rather traps in beneath it.. easy enough to take care of after i wash the car i pop the trunk and most/all water drains onto the back window... mine also has rust on the bottom of the doors, its a j-body thing ppl w/ 03+ cars have teh same problem... i'd say just get a body shop to fix it for u rather than replace the whole door cuz they will rust again theres no way around it.. unless a new door is cheaper(maybe it is)i'd just have it do at a shop...

A/C light is supposed to come on, The a/c comes on when the defrosters are on to remove the moisture from the air so the windshield doesnt fog up.

The door is a bodyshops judgement matter. If you just want a quick fix, which is the cheapest but may only last 4-5 months depending on where you are (salt and water content) If there are holes through youd be better off getting a door from an 00- 02 to replace it and dump oil in it till it runs out the bottom. Problem with another door is that the only way to match the paint is to color blend into the fender and quarter. Thats where it could get a little costly. If you go to a shop and they say that they can make it match perfectly without blending, their big fat liers. I've been a painter for 15 years and have had extensive schooling through PPG and the truth is, no blend no match...no chance.

The hood on yer car has had either paint work or something done because the bowtie is stuck on too high.

Not a bad cav, I like the red.

Good eye! Yes the chevy emblem is too high. The car was crashed lightly with 28k and bumper, and hood and left front fender were replaced. I thought about putting it back where it goes, but if i take it off there will most likely be fade or something, so I left it.

Thanks for the replies!
