where do i start on my 03 2.2 cavy? i want to get a cai but i just cant seem to find 1 reasonably priced, then where do i go? i wus thinkin headers or cams, maybe like a 2.5 inch flowmaster, dunno tho lookin for feadback thanks guys =D

Honestly, for the intake, I'd search on ebay. Buy one of the cheap $20.00 ones. The only problem with them is that their filters are crap. So buy a K&N or similar filter for the intake. Doing that will save you $190.00 aprox . on your intake. I oly spent $60.00 for my intake and K&N + cleaning fluid kit.

check out www.carcustoms.net i found my cai for 180.00, when most of them were coming in at 230.00. I highly recommend this guy for almost everything, he also ground ships everything for free!
Listen to Evil Cavalier, go to ebay and get one there. All it is an empty tube with an airfilter on the end. I got mine off of ebay for an 02 modified it to on my 05 and put it on. Mine goes straight down between the radiator and the engine, and hangs down about an inch or 2 past the radiator. I paid $30 for the whole thing, sure beats spending even $100 on something that is only an aluminum tube with a air filter on the end and some silicone connectors.

Just so you know, Thats one of the hottest parts of the engine bay to put an intake. The hottest being the exhaust manifold. I suggest some form of heat shield or even DEI thermal wrap to keep those air intake temps below 200 degrees.
As for the topic on hand, ebay is a good way to go, or even an exhaust shop. Just get a pipe, mandrell bent from an exhaust shop, locate and drill a hole for the IAT sensor if applicable, and add a hole for the PCV hose, if applicable, and just add a cone filter. If you want to paint it or polish it, you easily can.
Once again, El fago, go away. You take any brand name intake, and one from ebay, oh wow, they are the same damn thing you retard.

Oh, another thing El fago, my I have the ecotec, the exhaust manifold is by the firewall, retard. There are no hot parts where my intake is at. Know what your talking about before you start opening your mouth, you do not have a clue to how hot or cold my engine runs, and also, it is apparent you know nothing.

hey idiot... he is saying that THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ITSELF and THE INTAKE ITSELF is hot... the fact that the exhaust manifold is rite next to the fire wall wont make it any cooler... go try it yourself, go touch it and see how hot it is, after your engine has been running and warmed up... o and while youre at it, touch your intake (if aftermarket) too, after your engine has been running for a while... ITS METAL, AND ITS ATTATCHED TO THE ENGINE.. guess what, its gonna get hot... my stutbar gets real hot. why? BECAUSE ITS NEXT TO THE ENGINE AND ITS METAL... heat sheild or some kinda coating to dissapate heat would be a good idea to cool things down on the intake... so with that said... who doesnt have a clue?

I think he is getting mad because i keep proven him wrong thread after thread. i hate for people to get the wrong info. What i was specificly warning against was putting the intake directly next to the radiator, as his is. Esp a metal intake. I however have a plastic intake, Which even though i have a differant engine the rule still applies.
