should be put into a NEW compressor being installed in lets say a 99 2.2 cav, haynes, gm, nor any local shops i called could tell me, haynes says poor the exact amount that came out of the old compressor. problem is, the old compressor developed a small hole in it,,, yikes.. thanks everyone

It comes from the factory with 46. But anything 45 to 65 will work without major problems.
2002+ are a bit pickier and should stay in the 45 to 50 range for the longest life.
8oz are necessary if it's bone dry. You will probably need less.

(Note this info applies to 3rd gens. I'm not sure, but I think 2nd gens and older take 125 to 135 oil. Again, not sure!).
