LD9 is discontinued, go Eco for longevity and parts availability.

It's the same family of engine (2.4 is 2nd gen, 2.2 is 3rd gen of the Olds Quad design). Both are very good. The 2.2L is still being produced (in serveral different displacements too).

The 2.4 Eco comes in:

* 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
* 2006 Pontiac Solstice
* 2006 Saturn Sky
* 2006 Saturn ION
* 2006 Pontiac G6
* 2006 Pontiac Pursuit
* 2006 Chevrolet HHR
* 2007 Saturn Aura
* 2006 GM Taiwan Buick LaCrosse
* 2006 Shanghai GM Buick LaCrosse

Also comes in 1.8L and 2.0L displacements. Various cars over the world have them:
* 1.8 L - Chevrolet Lacetti, Chevrolet Nubira, Chevrolet Rezzo
* 2.0 L - Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Evanda, Suzuki Reno, Suzuki Forenza
* 2.4 L SOHC - Isuzu Rodeo

And while I'm at it, the 2.2L comes in these cars:
* Saturn L-Series
* 2001-2005 Vauxhall VX220/Opel Speedster
* 2002- Saturn VUE
* 2002-2004 Chevrolet Cavalier
* 2002-2004 Oldsmobile Alero
* 2002-2005 Pontiac Sunfire
* 2003-2005 Saturn L-Series (high output)
* 2003- Saturn ION
* 2004 Chevrolet Classic
* 2004- Chevrolet Malibu
* 2005- Chevrolet Cobalt (145 hp/155 ft·lb)
* Pontiac Grand Am
* Opel Astra/Vauxhall/Holden Astra
* Opel Vectra/Vauxhall/Holden Vectra
* Opel Zafira/Vauxhall/Holden Zafira/Subaru Traviq

GM also slapped the Ecotec name on a 1.9L Diesel, but that engine is made by Fiat.

Don't use the 2.4, fitting it is more work than its worth. Stick with the 2.2, its an "easy" swap, then turbo it.

yeah. engine, tranny, wiring harness.
best bet is to buy a rear ended J-body with a 2.2ecotec in it. then swap everything over to your car

The tranny doesn't "need" to be swapped depending on what tranny you have now, and what the donor PCM was set up for.

AHDOL has wiring schematics for both cars, will cost $24 for both complete sets.
I have used them before, the schematics are very complete.
