ok ive been getting alot of half ass answers from asking random people so i really need help. What EXACTLY will i need to do to swap my stock 1998 automatic 2.2L SFI engine for a 2.2L ecotec*manual or automatic, either* , and does anyone have an estimate to how much this will cost.

either that or someone said to do a 2.4 Twin Cam swap, but i dont know what engine this is, whats it in, and are parts available for it? and if all this fails...i know its a long...long shot, but 2200's cant really be made fast can they? theres also the z24, is that anything to look into at all?

what would people with some experience and knowledge do

*not enough money to get a new car*

Id swap with an ecotec.

You will need the engine, accessories (starter, alt etc..), eco upper engine mount (not 100% sure on the fitment, maybe you need to make a custom one), tranny (clutch, flywheel, shift cables), radiator, possibly exhaust.

You are looking at $1800-$2500 for just the parts for an eco swap. I just made a rough estimate so it may be a little more.

You need to spend more time reading before anything else. It has been said a billion times so you can find threads about the subject. Also, if you don't know what a Z24 is or what engine is in there, you don't know enough to swap an engine.

Do a search, there are alot of parts available for the 2.4 as well as the eco.

there's probably more aftermarket performance parts available for the 2.4l engine than any of the non-ecotec 2.2l engines. read as much as you can in the performance forums about what is available for the 2.4l.

thanks for the help. im really thinking about getting the 2.4, im thinkin it should be easy to find in a junkyard. how much do yall think it would cost?
Then again im only 17, so when im older and have more money if im still into cavaliers i'll get an ecotec, this is just the begining.
