Modding my Sunfire!

Hey guys I'm new to the JBO as far as posting but I've been reading here on and off since I bought my 2001 Sunfire as a commuter car back in 2003. I've also got a Dark Shadow Grey 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with a 5spd, 305 hp, and around 320 lb/ft of tourque that I use for shows and occassional weekend drives -- I actually bought the Sunfire for my long commute into Atlanta and have grown pretty attatched to it as of late. The Mustang mostly sits in the garage under a cover fully detailed and is an awesome car...not the fastest out there, but just what I want in a car in its stock form See some pics over at myspace.com/orangeverb

Anyways I kind of let the sunfire go over the past two years Don't worry I always change the oil, put new brakes on, and keep up with regular maintainence Cosmetically the car has picked up a lot of dents, tons of stone chips, and a good bit of where and tear though...actually it came to me with a few cosmetic issues due to it's previous life in Michigan and several thousand miles as a rental car. It has around 92,000 miles now too. It runs great though and the gas milage is awesome -- and the fact that I drive it about 400+ miles a week and spend most of my driving time in it has really gotten me thinking as of late: what if I started redoing the Sunfire? I mean I don't really plan on selling it and it's paid off. So why not?

I've been doing a lot of research and am considering a repaint, some dent removal, a streetfire body kit, a carbon fiber hood, some Koni struts and Eibach pro kit springs, a new exhaust, some new wheels and tires, and a whole slew of other stuff...nothing obnoxious or ricey of course: P Just a car I can have fun adding stuff onto and replace the 2.2 in when it dies. It would probably make a really cheap ride for autocrossing type stuff and SCCA meets too So I figure why not redo it and have some fun -- I've already got a garage queen.

Just felt like sharing

Chris

If you plan on Autocrossing it, I wouldn't suggest getting a body kit because all you'll end up doing is scraping the hell out of it. Especially since you'll be lowering it, and seeing as though the Streetfire kit is one of the lowest kits out for the Sunfire its almost a guarantee that you'll damage it. Unless you don't care then go right ahead .
