I was just wondering if there is any easy way or DIY guide to make my car beep when I lock the doors with the keyless entry remote

I should probably add that I have a 97 Cavalier without an alarm system. I just bought the car yesterday so I'll try hitting the lock button twice to see if it works.

Go to youre dealership and ask them to program the horn feature when locking the doors.

You can have the tail light blink and other stuff. It's cheap. Just a matter of 5-10minutes.

I don't think the tailights will flash, but the horn should be able to beep.

my 2002 sunfire did that. hit the lock botton 1 time it will lock then another time the horn wheel beep and the headlights flash and the map lights would flash.

I tried hitting the button twice but that didn't work. I'll call the dealership on Tuesday after labour day. Stupid long weekends, I'm still waiting for insurance.

Well I can't get drl flash in Canada. Why do people do that? Just wondering, I'd think some like drl's would be a safety net everybody would like? Is it just for cosmetics?

You can't get the DRL flash? What's that crap. I have it on mine and ALOT of car have it. Mind you I'm in Quebec.

Yes. The guy ask me if I wanted to have the tail light flashing when unlocking and locking.

i think the 95-99s are the only years that the horn doesnt beep and lights dont blink when you hit the lock button. the 00+ do it cuz they have alarms as well as the keyless entry. 95-99 is just locking and unlocking the doors, no alarm

for ppl with factory keyless entry with on a 00+ cavalier....have you tried to open your car with the key only and after you open it, does the factory alarm comes on??? on mine it does... kind of weird, cuz if I loose my keyless entry remote, the factory alarm would shoot every time I open the doors

cause it's on. You need to turn it off with your remote. Last time you used your remote you locked your doors so that's why.

Unless Quebec is different from the rest of Canada it's not legal to not have DRL's in Canada passed a certain year.

On a side not, I went to a GM dealership and the lady at the desk said she didn't think the 97 Cavaliers were smart enough for a simple tweak like that. 00+ it was no problem. She may have been talking out of her errr rump so I'll call another place and ask them.

Passed 1990 every vehicule needed DRL. That's why I said it was stupid to not be able to have flashing DRL with keyless.

Sorry, I got confused. I thought you were saying you got your DRL flashed so your car no longer has DRL.
