I just picked up a base model 98 4 door cavalier. It's the first car that I've owned that doesn't alert you when you leave your lights on while the car is off. Do cavalier not have one or is there something wrong? I've left my lights on a half dozen times already.
thanks
It usually doesn't chime if you have an aftermarket stereo. You can pick up chime modules from stereo shops if ya want.
summit had one last i looked.

you know, i love when people like to criticize others about their behavior,
but turn around and do the same freaking thing months later...
It's got the factory deck but the previous owner might have put it back when they sold it. my dad mentioned that it might be missing a relay so i'm going to check that lead out.
it doesnt matter about the chimes or not because its a 98 and not a00+
it should chime no matter what deck you have when your lights are on..something is wrong
I checked all the fuses and relays, they're all there, i guess the next step is to check the wiring. where is the chime itself located or are the speakers used for it?
Turns out it was the push button switch in the door jam that activates the interior lights. I just swaped the passenger side one and it's all fixed up.
