Sell it , spend just the amount of money it would cost to do that swap and find your self a cheap camaro or trans am lt1 and run 13's with cheap mods
02 Cavalier Z24- no modsas of yet

Adam, do research before merely asking "what should i do" - you could make the car as fast as you want. you're limited only by the size of your wallet.

ooooo ooooooooooo ooooooooooo 300 shot of nitrous and bam low 14s easy
Man I wish i could find that video of a Cavy with Nitrous catching fire driving down the street.
get a faster car
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
id say do a little search on here for all the setups people have, see what you like and go from there. the reason no one is answering for real is because there really is no answer that we can give you, its something you need to look around for yourself. we cant tell you what you want. yes you could do an eco swap, and if you plan on turboing thats(imo) the route to go, and yes you coud rebuild your current engine, but its really up to how much work, and what kind of work you are willing to do.
rolls eyes.....about the only thing you can do to a 2200 motor is strap about 300 dollars worth of bottle rockets to the bumper and face it nose first down a steep hill.....if you do this and get a few stong buddys to help you push it may MAY run a 15.9.........all in all it cant be made fast my car was a 2200 with a turbo setup before i bought it and swaped it to a sprayed built z24 motor....the thing ran like a 14.0 @ 99mph for like 2 months and then @!#$ just starting blowing up 1 at a time.....please for the sake of jbo dont try and mod this car it would be cheaper to swap in a bone stock used z24 motor with 100K miles do sold motor mounts for 60 bucks and a header then youll see low 15's
thanks you that is all, josh
really? are you sure you can't make it fast? i guess cars that run 13second quarter miles all day long are "slow" cars to you?
*looks outside* yep, Doomie's still around, and she's still pretty farking fast. stop talking out your posterior, kiddo.

Hehe... low 14s in repairs (14k that is )
150 shot of nitrous should do the trick. after a run or two, it'll blow and you can swap in a good engine, like the eco. and actually make real power.

SO EVERYTHING!
Well I have only seen one 2.2 OHV do 14 sec. in the quarter mile and he was built up man, it takes time and money to develop a car that'll do it for yah, try talking to Major he had a cavy that did 14's I believe, and you can see what kind of set up he did, but ultimately you should do what you feel is right for you wether it be a motor swap, or sticking with a 2.2OHV

engine swap to a built eco, and run 25psi on a 50trim or 60trim and you will be in the 11's
it will only be like 6g's or so when you are all done, maybe more.... or you can put that down on a fast car that runs elevens and then pay 5000 dollars a month for 6 years on that very expensive car
to each his own...
good luck!

you dont need 25 psi, 20psi with slicks can proabably get 11s. PSI means nothing if its not tuned properly. Your car can be running 15psi and run 13s, and somebody else on same engine can be running 12psi and be running the same time.
6gs lol.
Also Adam it will cost ~$10,000 to get into the 11s with doing the eco swap. Unfortunatly hp isnt and will never be cheap.
if you want 14s, look into a turbo setup, you can probably run a stock motor and 7-8psi to get into the 14s on the 2200. Maybe even 6psi with slicks and thats about $2000 if you do the turbo setup yourself or roughly $2500 for a kit.

very true... i ran a 13.2 on stock tires, 10 to 1 air fuels, and 17 degrees of timing... far from a good tune, but its a safe tune for now... im hoping for mid to high 12's on 15psi once i get tuned and tires...
eco swap would run him around 1 or 2 g's max.... 10g.s is a bit much, for that just buy a j with a eco in it
[either way, modding your car is never worth anything, do it because you think its fun!! Thats the only thing that worth anything... that its fun!! ] inspirational talk over.

12s would be kickass, especially from the auto tranny.
Eco all the way

Ok heres the choices so far I guess ECOTEC, well I like ECOTECS and they do put out impressive numbers but if you really want to shock and awe everyone then stay with the 2.2 and build it up and smash people like theres no tomorrow just remember though that you will have to spend money to do this like I am sure that everyone who has moded a cavy or sunfire has spent time and money on getting their cars where they are at right now

By the time you put enough money and effort into making it what it is. You'll have spent thousands and thousands, and most likely still have a slow ass Cavalier/Sunfire.

Man do you even know who Major is, I think of fast as you can whomp on a V-8 Muscle car like they are sitting still, thats what Major did in his 2.2L Cavalier, I mean everyone is into the 2.4L and Ecotecs nowadays and it would be nice to see someone come out with a 2.2L OHV that would make some of us cry, I mean don't bash the little 2.2's if they have dreams of running like 12's then let them
