i just bought my 03 sunfire USED a couple months ago and was just wondering if i had keyless entry. i was reading the owners manual and it said something about the theft system light coming on if you have an alarm. the dealership didnt give me a remote, and i have no idea if i have the option or not. some please help!!!
I have an 01 Sunfire with keyless entry, and my manual explicitly states that if you try to unlock the car using the key and not the remote, the alarm system will go off after a short warning period. It will gently tap the horn for 10 seconds, and if you don't put the key in the ignition during that time, it will trigger outright, flashing the headlights and honking the horn for 2 minutes. None of this happens if you unlock the car with the remote.
So yeah, if the alarm doesn't go off when you unlock your car, you probably don't have keyless entry. If you want to make absolutely sure, contact the dealership and ask them directly. They'll know what kind of car they sold you.
well it said in my manual that if you don't want to arm the alarm system, just lock the doors using the lock/unlock button located on the door. i have no idea, maybe i'll just take that suggestion and talk to the dealership. if anyone has anything to help, please go ahead. thanks ahead of time.

This is only true if the alarm is armed with the remote. ie If you arm the alarm with the key fob and attempt to unlock the door with the key after the 30 second alarm cancellation time frame, the alarm will go off. If you turn off the car, open the door and press the lock/unlock button on the door, then close the door, then you attempt to unlock the door with the key, the alarm will not sound because it was not armed prior to the unlocking with the key.
Hope this clears up any confusion...
To answer the original question, contact your dealer, give them the VIN and they will explain to you all of the factory installed options.
