newb question

Hello, i don't have a j-body, but my little brother ordered a CAI, and he's had it awhile and not put it on, so it's to late to take back, but they sent him one for a 2.4L and he has a 2.2L. I'm pretty sure it won't fit, but is there anything he can do to make it fit?

What year is his cavalier or sunfire.

If it is earlier than 02, he definately has a 2.2 or 2200 and this might possibly work:
Use a hack saw and cut the bend that is in the middle of the pipe out and run another 2.5" coupler (probably 45°) to get the angle to fit behind the battery. Take some measurements of the piping and the area it needs to go in the engine bay.

If it is 03+ he definately has an Ecotec. I know the Ecotec has a larger throttle body, so the coupler may be too small, but I would think that the piping is close enough that the intake should fit without modification.

If he bought an expensive one such as AEM, tell him to sell it on ebay or post it in the JBO classifieds.

An intake is just a coupler, a pipe and a filter. So yes...the difference is in the way the pipe is bent.
