can you make a homemade air intake i heard so but not to convinced
you can make anything if you know what your doing, and i think this is in the wrong forum
Sure just use Aluminum tube (NOT PLASTIC or PVC!), Silicone Joints and Elbows (I don't recommend rubber, but it would work too) and grab a good cone filter to slap on it. Fab it up any way you want.
It's kind of expensive to buy all the parts and put it together yourself (compared with premade kits) but if you need something custom or different, finding the stuff isn't hard at all (like ebay).

Back in the days of my ghettoness i used plastic pipe from home depot. I dont know if it would be called pvc but its just like it but black. It has a higher temperature rating and worked out great. I think i used 3 inch and it only slightly rubbed my hood. The hardest part was getting the filter on the end, i had to shove it inside.. I was worried it would fall off. Then smog came around and i no longer had my stock parts and i bought my aem cold air, i love it.

PVC pipe conducts/transmits heat easily. It's worse than a stock intake.

And the fumes aren't the best to breathe in either.
Just get yourself a cheap one off ebay. They are all the same thing.
