hey everyone haven't been on here in a few years, but lookin to get back into a j-body, anyways my question is this...I'm looking for a good all round car, I'm going to go 2 door 5 spd and im probally gonna be in the 00-02 range 2.2L cavalier/sunfire anyway just wondering if they got the head gasket issue resolved yet? the older 2.2's where bad for this and im asumming its the same engine just SFI insted of MPFI i dont really intend on racing around alot but im sure it will happen from time to time as all im gonna do is throw an intake with some wheels and lowreing and drive it....just wondering what the problem issues with these years are. any help would be great
Find an 02 LS cav with a 2.2 Ecotec, you wont be disapointed, it has a lot more kick than your old 2.2, and they are very well built motors with no design issues.

Agreed, the 2.2 Eco design is really the culmination of 15+ years development of the Olds Quad4 Engine, so it's a very mature design.
Yeah, my bro had a 99 sunfire with the 2.2 and I now have a 03 Cav with the ECO, and you could really notice the difference between the two.
What everyone else said, buy one with an Ecotec motor. Before you buy it, pop the hood and if the motor doesn't say Ecotec then say "Thanks for your time" and find another one.
get an Ecotec you wont be dissapointed.. I personally had a 97 2.2 OHV ( worst POS ever ) but anyways it was good to take me from point A to point B if thats what your looking for, but the Ecotec is way more powerful, less noisy, smaller engine, better built like emntioned above and you can do more stuff to it....... just my opinion
