I have a 97 sunfire gt and want to get a newer junkyard 2.4 to replace an old tired one. My question is how new of a 2.4 can I buy to swap in?

99 to 2002 2.4's have the EGR deleted. there's a way to take it off, I just don't recall how. if you do some searching in performance, I'm sure it's been gone over a hundred times.

Other than a few little details like EGR, they're all the same 96-02.
Ok cool, so I could in essence get a 2002 2.4L and with minor switching around and such make it work?
