rockers 2200

im posting this in the newb forum because it is kind of a newb question. i was wondering about getting rockers for my 2200 motor. i have heard that just by replacing the rockers you can get good gains from the motor. is this true and also are they hard to install. can they be used with the stock cam, etc...??? if this is true where can i buy some, will i need new springs, and are tey as easy to install as i have been told?? i find i hard to believe that you just take off the valve cover and old rockers. replace rockers with new onesand put everything back. obviously everything needs to be tourqued down right. sorry but im not much of an engine guy. thanks for any help.

If you're looking for big gains, rockers arent the place to start. Look into head work and maybe a cam regrind while you've got the engine apart.

trying not to take the engine apart too extensively. but thanks. i found those posts. i still want to know what else needs to be repalced to work with the rockers or if you can just get new rockers and it will give you hp gains?

A 2.4TC "modification" would be much more worth your time in my opinion.

I think the 2.4TC he was referring to is the Twin cam setup, could be wrong though.

yeas but modification?? wouldnt that be more of an engine swap than just a modification.

Sorry you guys missed the sarcasm there. Yes I did mean an engine swap.
I have to agree with several other people around here, the 2200 was meant to be reliable, not powerful. The 2.4 was meant to be powerful, and reliability is slightly diminished because of it. I understand some like a challenge. But getting the 2200 up to where the 2.4 starts at will cost as much as doing the swap in many cases.

im just looking for a little more power than what i will have when i get an intake and exhaust. not lookin to go race people.

I'd go to a more aggressive cam and springs, with a good p&p head, before doing rockers.
Higher ratio rockers will add more, but without doing other things you're really not going to see much difference.

ok thanks. i might just do intake, exhaust and motor monts and be good with that. its just a dd that i want to be a little more than stock. i want to have a little fun with it.
