Painting chome altezza's....is it possible?

Hey guys,

I am not really a noob on the site, I just research alot and don't post too many things. But I thought I would throw this topic in here......Is it possible to take apart a chrome set of altezza taillights and paint them black? I know you can do it for the front corner lights and stuff.....just didn't know if you could do it with these.....I have a spare set layin around and thought it would be something to try.....thanks for the info.

yea, it would work, just warm them in the oven for 15-20mins on the lowest setting, take em out (were gloves the @!#$ is hot) and pry them apart with a butterknife. Sand prime and spray then just use some clear silicon to put em back togather.

hopfully izn will see this hes the "god" of these kinda projects.

^^^ LOL. thanks for the compliment.

i can not tell you 100% if what you have is a different brand from what i have dealt with.
i can tell you that the oven (for me) does not work for the stock tails, nor the aftermarket tails made by "SONAR".
the company SONAR uses the same adhesive as GM to seal the lenses onto the housings, (as far as i can tell) and makes it pretty much impossible to take the lenses off without damaging them.

what i would suggest is to cut the housing as close to the lens as you can with a dremel and the serrated blade bit. the one that is blue and made of metal. cut as close as you can to the lens all the way around. since you are painting them black, you can do as you wish to them, and then put them back together with black silicone.

let me know if you have any questions during the process. ill do my best to help out, but i have had lack of time for myself lately, so i apologize in advance if i do not get back to you in a timely manner.

good luck with everything corey!!!
