hey everyone...im new to this site...i just purchased a 1997 Rs Coupe? thats what the VIN tells me....

im on here looking for a little technical help being as im not familiar with the cavaliers....

A little about me.......

Im a previous owner of an 82' Camaro, 84' Z28, 92' RS, and my recently wrecked and totaled 2000 Z28... i was in an accident very recently and needed something to get me through the winter and spring....and being as im a diehard chevy guy, i got a cavalier instead of any other little car...

ill try to get pics of the camaro soon to show the damage i done driving on sleet....it sucks~

hope I can become part of the family here like i am over at z28.com...

thanks in advance for all the help...im mechanically inclined, but not familiar with the cavalier setup....thanks~

If you need technical help, quite a few of us are auto mechanics for a living and can help you quite a bit

thanks for the welcome....

usually i dont need to ask for help but im not familiar with this vehicle like the camaro's i came from...

the only thing thats going on right now is the coolant light...to me it says check the coolant and refill if necessary...well i did, and the light has not gone off....do the computers on these cars need to be cleared of codes like any others in order to remove the light? and what sensors could be setting this off? there are no leaks, and the reservior is full.... also, the previous owner has already switched the factory dex-cool over to just normal prestone green...something im happy about actually...

in the overflow tank, near the front of it, there is a low coolant sensor. generally when the light comes on and the res. is full, it needs to be cleaned. its rather easy to do, just drain your res., and pull the sensor, clean, and replace. it should automatically go out when it senses that its now working.
